BIOMATH 2021

Welcome to Biomath 2021

The international conference on Mathematical Methods and Models in Biosciences (Biomath 2021) will take place from 20th to 25th June 2021. It is hosted by the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics and the SARChI Chair on Mathematical Models and Methods in Bioengineering and Biosciences at University of Pretoria. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic the conference will be conducted in hybrid mode, namely both online and face-to-face, the later one with appropriate social distancing. The venue for face-to-face participation is the Future Africa campus of University of Pretoria.

As in the past, the conference is devoted to recent research in life sciences based on applications of mathematics as well as mathematics applied to or motivated by biological studies. It is a multidisciplinary meeting forum for researchers who develop and apply mathematical and computational tools to the study of phenomena in the broad fields of biology, ecology, medicine, biotechnology, bioengineering, environmental science, etc.

Contributed talks in any of these fields are invited for presentation at the conference. Participants need to submit a one-page abstract indicating clearly the significance of the reported results for the advancement of knowledge in bioscience and/or biotechnology. Abstracts submission deadline: 15 May 2021.

Papers from the conference can be submitted to volume 10 (2021) of the journal "BIOMATH". A possibility of special issue with another journal is currently investigated. The authors need to comply with the scope and the requirements of the respective journal where they would like to submit.
